VPS Technology

VPS stands for "Variable Printing Specification". It is a PostScript based VDP language developed by Scitex in 1998. (Scitex was later acquired by Creo and then by Kodak).

In our learned opinion, it is by far the best VDP language up to now:

• It is the simplest VDP language. Only ~10 operators were added to PostScript to support VDP.
• Despite of the simplicity, it is more powerful than any other VDP language.
• It achieves the rated engine speed on all reasonably formed VPS job.
• It has all the power of PostScript. At the same time, it allows the inclusion of EPS, PDF, TIFF, and JPEG containers.
• It is supported by all the major VDP producers.
